Recipe: Homemade Granola Bars

Made this super easy and super yummy granola bars this morning and up until now I still can't stop munching it. It's really that good you know! The texture of the granolas are pretty soft, not to sweet and the crushed cornflakes...just compliment the whole thing nicely. I can't wait to let my husband try it. *stillcantgetoverthegranolas*

The original recipe calls for the combination of oat and rice krispies but apparently I don't have any rice krispies at home. So I tweaked a bit using what ever I had at home. Btw here's the recipe:

Homemade Granola Bars


1/4 cup of unsalted butter
1/4 cup of honey
1/3 cup of brown sugar
2 cups of quick cooking oats
1 cup of lightly crushed cornflakes
1/4 teaspoon of vanilla essence
2 tbsp of chocolate chips


1. In a large bowl, stir oats and cornflakes together. Set aside.
2. In a small pot, melt butter, honey and brown sugar together over medium heat until it comes to a bubble.
3. Reduce the heat and cook for 2 minutes. Pour in vanilla and stir.
4. Pour over ingredients and mix well to moisten all ingredients.
5. Pour into lightly greased pan and press about 1" in thickness.
6. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips and press down lightly.
7. Let it cool for 2 hours before cutting into bars.
